Halloween 2015

Halloween was a beautiful day and the boys were very excited to be dressed in their costumes for trick-or-treating.  Evan loved being a spider and scaring his arachnophobic mother
And I absolutely love the giraffe costume on Eric:

Brothers:
This outtake was adorable - love Eric's pose:
Our neighbors got us invited to a neighborhood party, which was nice.  We met so many people that I can't really tell you anyone's name.  But it was at least nice to get to meet the folks who we live near.  Here is the group right before we parted ways for trick-or-treating:
And we are on our way to trick-or-treating:
And just one last Halloween themed photo is from our trip to the zoo the weekend before Halloween - this one is Eric amongst the giraffes.  It loos like the giraffe in the background is checking out the newest addition:
All in all, we had a great Halloween and am now ready to start thinking about the holidays.

School Halloween Parades

On October 30th, we took the afternoon off to attend the boys' Halloween parades at school.  Here was Evan when he saw us during his kindergarten parade:
Mrs. Winnick's PM class:
My spider:
Laughing:
My budding photographer (Evan) took this picture:
Brian & Evan waiting for Eric's parade to start:
Nana, Brian & Evan:
And now Eric's parade.  There were lots of kids and it moved very quickly, so this is the only picture I got:
It was so fun watching their parades and they were so happy to have Nana there to watch them too.  I have some really good ones from Halloween that I'll post next time.

Apple Picking Traditions Continue

A few weekends ago, we headed to Highland Orchards for our annual apple picking trip:
Evan getting some good apples:
Eric displaying his apple:
And then taking a bite:
Posing on some pumpkins, and actually smiling nicely:
Then laughing:
When did this boy become such a big kid??
 My blondie:
A rare photo that I'm actually in:
Fun with dad:
Kisses:
Goofballs:
On the playground afterwards:
And after apple picking, we headed to Pocopson Founders Day.  The boys enjoyed a donut eating contest, which Evan was more than thrilled to participate in:
It was a great day and the boys were exhausted by the time we got home.  While I'm not happy to say goodbye to summer weather, we are certainly enjoying the fall activities.

First Day of Kindergarten for Evan

Evan started his first day of Kindergarten at Pocopson Elementary on August 31st.  He was excited and nervous at the same time (as was I).  Here we are taking the first day of Kindergarten photo in front of our house:
Got a nice laugh out of him:
Eric wanted in on the action too and we didn't have a sign for him, so we pretended it was his first day of Kindergarten too:
And now with Brian before the big day:
Here we are ready to go into the school:
And outside Mrs. Winnick's classroom:
Evan found his name on the class board:
And so far, Evan is doing well in his new school.  There were some rough mornings during the first few weeks during drop-off, but he seems to have settled in nicely now and is starting to make some friends.  The school is very, very  nice and we've already been to a few school events, including a kindergarten playground meet-and-greet and a movie night outside at the school.  At the movie night there was a dunk tank.  And you guessed it, Evan had one shot and he dunked Principal Beaver!  I didn't get to see it but Brian said only 3 kids dunked during the time he was watching and Evan was one of them.  We went to a new parent meet-and-greet this week too.  Here's to hoping things only get better as the year goes on!

OBX 2015

In the middle of August, we headed down to the OBX for our 5th year in a row with the same group.  Here is our annual footprint photo:
The first morning started off with a treasure hunt from the OBX Pirates.  The kids were very focused on the guys who were reading the pirate story behind me:
The Felt boys getting ready for the treasure hunt:
The clues led us all throughout the house and eventually out the beach to find the "X" spot where the treasure would be buried:
And they found it - let the digging begin:
Trying to get it out of the sand:
Later in the day, the guys began the boogie-boarding club:
A minor miracle was all of the children in one photo at once.  From left to right:
Kaylee, Autumn, Wyatt, Ian, Shane, Keira, Evan, Eric & Chase
Brothers:
And our full house:
Dads out in the ocean with their kids on their shoulders:
Jumping some very big waves:
Burying their feet in the sand (Keira, Evan & Wyatt):

Evan loves boogie-boarding, though the waves were a little rough when we were there:
And right after this shot, he went under:
The girls went out for a girl's day and came home to all of the kids sitting, unattended, with bottles of alcohol in their hands :)
Family photo shoot.  Not posting our best one here yet as we may end up using it as our Christmas card (because we are very unoriginal :)
 Brothers again:
My baby:
Flying kites at sunset:
Notice to the far right, the very dark clouds.  About 2 minutes after we got all of the kites up in the air, the sky opened up and it started pouring.  Next time, lesson learned that we'll need to check the forecast before going out to fly kites:
More boogie-boarding:
The boys absolutely love to play mini-golf.  We went with the large group one day but then also went with just our family a second time:
A little spike ball on the beach:
And last is my favorite photo of the week, taken by our friend Sean with his underwater camera:
All in all, it was a great week and we are already discussing going back next year!
